Capitate Bone Poetry

ANATOMY AIIMS, GROSS ANATOMY, EMBRYOLOGY, NEUROANATOMY, MICROANATOMY, APPLIED/ CLINICAL ANATOMY Capitate Bone
In the wrist, there's a bone that's quite distinct
With a shape that's unique, it's the capitate, I think
It sits at the center, like a crown on a king
With anatomical features that make it a thing
It's the largest carpal bone, with a convex top
And a conical base that helps it to lock
Into the wrist joint, with a smooth, rounded head
Articulating with bones, as if it were bred
The dorsal surface has a roughened ridge
Where tendons attach, and grip with a smidge
The palmar surface is smooth and wide
A perfect spot for ligaments to reside
It's shaped like a rectangular prism, with facets to spare
Two on the front and one on the rear
It's a central player, a pivot point so fine
A vital piece of the wrist, and its design
So, if you're ever in need of a bone to impress
Look no further than the capitate, no need to digress
It's a marvel of nature, and a wonder to behold
A testament to the intricacy, of the human mold
The capitate bone, a wonder to behold
With many unique features, both new and old
A crown-like structure, sits atop the wrist
A royal presence, hard to miss
A large and convex head, smooth and round
Locks into the joint, without a sound
A conical base, for strength and support
A key player in wrist movement, never in short
A dorsal ridge, where tendons do attach
Palmar surface, ligaments in a catch
Faceted sides, front and rear
Articulating with neighboring bones, so clear
A rectangular prism, with corners so sharp
A central player, in the wrist's art
A pivot point, for smooth rotation
Flexion, extension, with no hesitation
The capitate bone, a true masterpiece
Intricately designed, with elegance and peace
A reminder of the wonder of the human form
A testament to the beauty, life can adorn.
