Tibialis Anterior

Lateral surface of tibia and adjacent interosseous

membrane

Ø Distal Attachment

Medial and inferior surfaces of medial cuneiform and

adjacent surfaces on base of metatarsal I

Ø Innervation

Deep fibular nerve (L4, L5)

Ø Action

Dorsiflexion of foot at ankle joint; inversion of foot;

Dynamic support of medial arch of foot

 

Extensor Hallucis Longus

 

Ø Proximal Attachment

Middle one-half of medial surface of fibula and

adjacent surface of interosseous membrane

Ø Distal Attachment

Dorsal surface of base of distal phalanx of great toe

Ø Innervation

Deep fibular nerve (L5, S1)

Ø Action

Extension of great toe and dorsiflexion of foot

 

Extensor Digitorum Longus

Ø Proximal Attachment

Proximal one-half of medial surface of fibula and related

surface of lateral tibial condyle

Ø Distal Attachment

Via dorsal digital expansions into bases of distal and middle

phalanges of lateral four toes

Ø Innervation

Deep fibular nerve (L5, S1)

Ø Action

Extension of lateral four toes and dorsiflexion of foot

 

Fibularis(Peroneus) Tertius

Ø Proximal Attachment

Distal part of medial surface of fibula

 

Ø Distal Attachment

Dorsomedial surface of base of metatarsal V

 

Ø Innervation

Deep fibular nerve (L5, S1)

Ø Action

Dorsiflexion and eversion of foot


Muscle

Extensor digitorum brevis

Extensor hallucis brevis  

Proximal Attachment

Superolateral surface of the calcaneus

Superolateral surface of the calcaneus  

Distal Attachment

Lateral sides of the tendons of extensor digitorum longus of toes II to IV  

Base of proximal phalanx of great toe  

Innervation

Deep fibular nerve (S1, S2)  

Deep fibular nerve (S1, S2)  

Action

Extension of toes II to IV  

Extension of metatarsophalangeal joint of great toe
